We buy wine only from the most secure and trusted sources in Bordeaux. Every year our Directors, Wine Advisors and Master of Wine, Sarah Abbott, travel to Bordeaux and spend an intense week or so tasting the young wines, talking to the producers, and making our notes. • Provenance: You are buying directly from the source, rather than in the secondary market. Authenticity is guaranteed, storage conditions are ideal, there is minimal transport disruption. Given the proliferation of fake wines on the market, provenance is of fundamental importance.
• Availability: Buying En Primeur may be the only chance to secure stocks scarce and highly sought-after wines.
• Price: For most wines and most vintages the En Primeur price, in the long-term, is the lowest price. Many wines increase in value over time as finite stocks diminish.
• Format: Many producers offer the opportunity for you to specify non-standard formats when the wine is bottled, such as half bottles, magnums, or double magnums.

• En Primeur wine purchased through BWI is documented separately to our own stockholdings, with a clear audit trail and certification to identify your ownership.

• All En Primeur prices are quoted In Bond. UK Duty and VAT will be charged at the prevailing rates when your wines are delivered.
• We are a wholesale wine merchant, and our minimum order is nine litres (equal to 12 standard 75cl bottles or equivalent). En Primeur wines are sold as a case of standard bottles.
• Non standard formats such as magnums and double magnums are available from many, but not all, châteaux. Format requests for white wines should be made at the time of ordering, for red wines by September. Bottling requests incur a small extra charge, which varies according to the format required.
